Eigentlich befand sich der Sportler gerade auf dem Weg der Besserung. Er erholte sich von einer Verletzung am Kreuzband, doch jetzt schockiert die Nachricht über seinen Tod die Fußballfans.
Ein Sprecher seines letzten Vereins gab traurige Gewissheit. „Es ist unglaublich. In diesem jungen Alter. So traurig. Das ist wirklich schrecklich. Unser Mitgefühl gilt seiner Familie und seinen Freunden“, sagte der technische Direktor des FC Twente. Die genaue Todesursache ist jedoch noch unbekannt.

<h2>Er wurde nur 29 Jahre alt</h2>
Der ehemalige Ajax-Flügelspieler Jody Lukoki ist im Alter von nur 29 Jahren verstorben! Er hatte eine internationale Karriere hinter sich. Da er die doppelte Staatsbürgerschaft besaß, durfte er sowohl für die Niederlande als auch für Kongo in der Nationalmannschaft spielen. In Orange lief er jedoch nur für die U-19-Mannschaft auf, während er für den Kongo dreimal auf dem Rasen stand.
Insgesamt verbrachte er drei Spielzeiten beim niederländischen Spitzenklub Ajax-Amsterdam und gewann in jeder Saison die Eredivisie. 2014 wechselte er dann endgültig zu PEC Zwolle.
