Trevor Moore, Mitbegründer der Sketch-Comedy-Gruppe The Whitest Kids U Know, ist am Freitag im Alter von 41 Jahren bei einem Unfall ums Leben gekommen.
„Wir sind am Boden zerstört über den Verlust meines Mannes, meines besten Freundes und des Vaters unseres Sohnes. Er war Millionen von Menschen als Schriftsteller und Komiker bekannt, aber für uns war er einfach der Mittelpunkt unserer ganzen Welt“, heißt es in der Erklärung.
„Dies ist ein tragischer und plötzlicher Verlust, und wir bitten Sie, unsere Privatsphäre in dieser Zeit der Trauer zu respektieren.“

Moore gründete und leitete die Gruppe The Whitest Kids U Know zusammen mit Zach Cregger, Sam Brown, Timmy Williams und Darren Trumeter.
Die in New York ansässige Truppe erlangte Berichten zufolge landesweite Aufmerksamkeit, nachdem sie 2006 einen Preis des HBO US Comedy Arts Festival gewonnen hatte, und produzierte eine selbstbetitelte Serie, die fünf Staffeln lang auf IFC lief und auf YouTube anhaltende Popularität genießt.
Moore schrieb und führte Regie bei der Disney XD-Serie „Walk the Prank“ und war der Schöpfer und Gastgeber der „The Trevor Moore Show“ auf Comedy Central, die am Samstagabend eine Hommage an den aus Montclair, NJ, stammenden Künstler twitterte.

Berichten zufolge begann der Komiker seine Karriere in der Unterhaltungsindustrie im Alter von 12 Jahren, als er der jüngste veröffentlichte Karikaturist der Welt wurde, so ein Bericht im Virginian-Pilot von 1995.
„So ein verrückter Geist in so einem jungen Alter! Ich habe das Buch geliebt“, soll „Weird Al“ Yankovic über Moores „Scraps“ gesagt haben.
Im Alter von 16 Jahren begann Moore, wöchentlich Cartoons für Zeitungen in Virginia zu schreiben, und begann dann, eine wöchentliche Sketch-Comedy-Sendung für seinen lokalen Fernsehsender zu produzieren, so Deadspin.
