Neuer wurde 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 und 2020 als IFFHS-Welttorhüter des Jahres ausgezeichnet. Er wurde zudem 2020 FIFA-Welttorhüter des Jahres und bisher zweimal zu Deutschlands Fußballer des Jahres gewählt.
Er leistete bis jetzt 225 Pflichtspiele für den FC Bayern ohne Gegentreffer. Doch nun muss der Rekord-Verein vorerst ohne ihren Vorzeige-Torwart auskomme
Der Verein gab auf seiner Homepage bekannt: „Der FC Bayern muss in den kommenden Wochen auf seinen Kapitän verzichten.“

Am Samstagabend stand Neuer noch beim 3:2-Sieg der Bayern gegen Leipzig im Tor, ihn plagten keine sichtbaren Probleme.
Noch aus dem Krankenhaus meldete sich der Fußballprofi bei seinen Fans mit der Horror-Nachricht. Manuel Neuer ist am rechten Kniegelenk operiert worden und fällt somit für bis zu sechs Wochen aus.
Die Operation wurde von Knie-Spezialist Dr. Christian Fink in Innsbruck durchgeführt.

<h2>“Eine gute und rasche Genesung“</h2>
Manuel Neuer (35) hat eine Knie-Operation erfolgreich überstanden. Das teilte der Fußballtorwart des FC Bayern München auf Instagram mit. Auf einem Foto, das ihn in einem Krankenhausbett zeigt, ist der Fußballer mit „Daumen hoch“-Geste zu sehen. „Hey Leute, ich hatte heute eine kleine OP am Knie. Alles ist super gelaufen“, bestätigt der 35-Jährige.
Laut Angaben seines Klubs war Neuer am Sonntag erfolgreich am rechten Kniegelenk operiert worden. Der Torwart könne jedoch voraussichtlich schon „zeitnah mit dem Aufbautraining beginnen“, schrieb er bei Instagram.
Seine Fans sollen ihm die Daumen drücken.
„Wir alle im Verein und die ganze Mannschaft wünschen Manuel eine gute und rasche Genesung und wir sind sicher, dass er schon bald wieder topfit bei uns ist“, erklärte Sportvorstand Hasan Salihamidzic (45) in einem Statement. Und auch auf Instagram gingen in den Kommentaren zahlreiche Genesungswünsche ein.
