Die Schönheitskönigin erlag am Freitagmorgen um 5.30 Uhr ihren Verletzungen, acht Tage nach dem tragischen Unfall. „Sie hatte am Donnerstagabend, 10. Februar, einen Unfall und erlitt schwere Schäden an ihrem Gehirn/Hirnstamm und liegt im Koma“, schrieb die Familie auf Instagram.

In der rührenden Würdigung in den sozialen Medien sagte Zoes Familie, dass die junge Frau „die Herzen vieler Menschen berührt hat“: „Dies war eine sehr traumatische Situation für unsere Familie, und wir können uns vorstellen, wie groß der Schock auch für alle sein wird, die sie kennen und sich um sie kümmern“.
Viele ihrer 25.000 Instagram-Follower hinterließen Nachrichten in Erinnerung an das Model:
„Ihre Schönheit, ihre Anmut, ihr Herz… eine atemberaubende Frau, die jeden in seinen Bahnen halten würde. Möge sie in Frieden ruhen“ und „Es tut mir so leid um Ihren Verlust.“

Noch wenige Wochen vor ihrem viel zu frühen Tod hatte die Schönheitskönigin auf ihrem Instagram-Account noch hoffnungsfrohe Botschaften geteilt. Zu einem Foto, auf dem sie ein rotes Oberteil trägt, schrieb sie ein Zitat von Jeanne d’Arc: „Ein Leben ist alles, was wir haben, und wir leben es so, wie wir glauben, dass wir es leben sollten. Aber zu opfern, was man ist, und ohne Glauben zu leben, das ist ein schrecklicheres Schicksal als zu sterben“, schrieb Zoe am 18. Januar.
Sie war die amtierende Miss Alabama (für America Strong), eine politische Kommentatorin für RSBN, eine Markenbotschafterin für „Turning Point USA“ und das „Falkirk Center der Liberty University“. Das Model war außerdem Sprecherin von „Students for Life“ und Mitglied von „Project Veritas“.
