Die 33-jährige Janae Gagnier, besser bekannt unter ihrem Social-Media-Namen „Miss Mercedes Morr“, hatte auf Instagram 2,6 Millionen Fans. Zu den Anhängern gehören einige hochkarätige Persönlichkeiten wie Megan Thee Stallion und Snoop Dogg.
Die Leiche eines Mannes, bei dem es sich um den mutmaßlichen Mörder von Gagnier handeln soll, wurde ebenfalls in der Wohnung gefunden. Bei dem Mann handelt es sich um den 34-jährigen Kevin Alexander Accorto, der in Florida wohnte.
Zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt der Ermittlungen geht die Polizei nicht davon aus, dass eine Beziehung zwischen dem Verdächtigen und dem Opfer bestand.

Die Todesursache für beide Personen steht noch nicht fest, da die Autopsieergebnisse des Gerichtsmediziners von Fort Bend County noch ausstehen. Zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt geht die Polizei davon aus, dass es sich um einen Mord-Selbstmord handelt. Die Ermittlungen zur Klärung des Tatmotivs dauern an.
Nachbarn, die von dem Vorfall erfuhren, reagierten am Montag geschockt:
„Was ich für sicher hielt, ist es anscheinend nicht. Wir haben so viele Regeln und Richtlinien, dass ich niemals erwarten würde, dass jemand unsere Sicherheitsvorkehrungen verletzt und jemand auf diesem Grundstück ermordet wird“ , sagte Roderick Shaw.
„Es ist sicher hier, wir haben die Tore, den Zaun, man braucht einen Code, um reinzukommen, einen Code, um rauszukommen, ich stehe einfach unter Schock“ , sagte Edna Swist.

Reaktion der Eltern
Die Mutter und der Vater von Jenae Gagnier, dem Instagram-Star, der Millionen als Miss Mercedes Morr bekannt war, sagen, dass sie das Wertvollste in ihrer Familie verloren haben.
„Das war unser Baby“ , sagte ihre Mutter, Jeaneta Grover.
Zum ersten Mal seit der Ermordung von Jenae sprachen ihre Eltern mit der Reporterin der Eyewitness News, Stefania Okolie. Sie beschrieben ihre älteste Tochter als eine liebevolle große Schwester.
„Sie war so berühmt in ihrer Instagram-Welt und wurde so geliebt“, sagte Grover.
